Adam Arveson Earns Honor at Maryville University

2012 Dec 10

Maryville University inducted 25 students into its chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa (???), a national leadership honor society that recognizes the most exemplary students in a university. Adam Arveson of Maple Plain was one of the honored inductees this fall who was recognized for excellence in academics and commendable leadership qualities outside of the classroom.

Founded in 1914 by a small community of students and faculty in Lexington, Va., Omicron Delta Kappa began with the ideal that students should be recognized for the entire contribution they make to their schools and communities. Only the top 35 percent of students qualify for this distinguished honor. Students who show meritorious initiative to positively effect their college community through journalism, athletics, campus or community service, scholarship and/or creative or performance art can be rewarded for their service.

The ceremony was held Nov. 7.

Last month U.S. News & World Report named Maryville the No. 1 Top Over-Performing University in the Country. Founded in 1872, Maryville University is an independent, four-year, private university located in St. Louis, Missouri. Ranked by US News & World Report as one of America's Best Colleges in the National Universities category, Maryville University offers more than 50 undergraduate majors, and many master's and doctoral degrees.
